Microsoft Office Won't Install "Another installation is already in progress"

Original title - Microsoft Office Won't Install

Microsoft Office 2013 Student Edition won't install.

When I try to install it, it says that another installation is in progress. I have shutdown the PC several times but it still thinks that something is being installed. I have checked task manager and nothing is running.

Any ideas?

    I ran the "Fix It" program to de-install the previous version of Office.

    I was then able to install Office successfully, now fully working.
