I am trying to install SQL Server 2022 Express. Whenever I go to run the installation, nothing happens after it prompts me for admin elevation. I checked Event Viewer and I saw this:

What can I do to get around this as I need to install this for school.

What is the OS version that you are trying to install this on? Is this from a recent download?
Windows 11 and it was a brand new download. Tried downloading it twice just to make sure the download was not the issue. I also tried installing it on a windows 10 VM with the same results.

When I ran it, there were no integrity violations.
You said that tried to download twice, but did you download along the same network path? Because this definitely sounds like faulty media. Try to download from a different place. If you are downloading from work, download from home or vice versa.
I tried to download it from two separate networks. The only thing I have not tried is downloading it on my phone and transferring it over. I will also try it on my wife's computer to see if it works.

can uninstall all small files and reinstall the whole package and run through it
uninstall from control panel
What small files am I looking for?
When u check in control panel and there are some files as Microsoft visual and other OLB file in "program and features include all other application that you have in you computer
I already uninstalled all Visual C++ redistributables and reinstalled them.

Please delete the old installation package, download a new SQL server 2022 express package from this MS link. Run SQL2022-SSEI-Expr.exe as administrator. Right click this file, chose Run as administrator option. Choose Download Media installation type. You will get the SQLEXPR_x64_ENU.exe file , please run it as admin. Please read this blog SQL Server 2019 Express Step by Step Download, Install and Configure for reference.
If the installation failed, please share us the setup log for analysis. It is located at C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\160\Setup Bootstrap\Log by default. The time-stamped log folder name format is YYYYMMDD_hhmmss for every installation. Please share us the summary and detail log under time-stamped log folder.
In addition, there are some limits of Express edition, such as SQL agent is not supported. If it is possible, developer edition is a better choice. It is also free.

I tried downloading a new one with the same results. I am unable to open it at all. It fails right after I run as administrator.
Unfortunately, the setup log was not created, so there are no files.

Did you enable some antivirus software? Please try to disable it and run the SQL server setup file. You can enable it after sql server installation.
I also tried that as well. I additionally checked my firewall and there were no alerts of it blocking anything.
Please download process monitor, run it to capture this progress to find out which application block sql setup file running.
Or did you try to install SQL server on a virtual VM.
I ran process monitor and am not sure what I am looking for when it comes to issues. I have included the logfile that starts when I first clicked the .exe file and ends at the last mention of the file.
Did you install the required .Net framework on your server? Please check the MS document SQL Server 2022: Hardware and software requirements to confirm you meet the other requirements for installation.
Please check whether the files existed that screenshot mentioned.
You should have to install any .NET on your computer, unless you are running some very old operating system. My guess is that the something is damaged in your .NET installation. Presumably the file that appears at the end of the monitoring session.
You could trying copying the file from another computer. If that does not help... Hm, a repair of Windows is probably better than trying things from the hip.
So, I looked at that file from the screenshot and it is in the rough location but it is not at that exact file path. However, it is not at that file path on another windows 11 machine that was able to run the program. I am going to do a full backup and try and repair windows over the weekend.

I was able to repair Windows, and I was able to install SQL Server Express! It took three tries for the repair actually to work and four tries to install SQL Server Express before another error finally went away... But this ordeal is finally over, and I will not fail out of school.
I must say that I admire you for your perseverance! You would have had my full understanding if you had given up. I hope that your future work with SQL Server will be less painful!
