Hello, my Azure Database for PostgreSQL single server should have been migrated to Azure Database for PostgreSQL flexible server. Right now the automatic migration is still in progress. The scheduled time for migration was 9/4/2024. How long does it take to complete the migration?

After contacting a MS service worker, they were able to check on the issue and fix the problem. The new flexible server is now showing up in my res group.

Dear Sina,
i have checked the state of the migration process regularly. The migration should be done by yesterday. But the whole PostgreSQL server just disappeared. It can't be found in the Res Group anymore and an old link is giving a 404 error of the resource. Still my services are running and connected to the "old" PostgreSQL database. Is the migration still in progress? Is this a normal procedure? I got 0 information or notification about this weird behavior.

Based on the information you provided, it seems that the migration from Azure Database for PostgreSQL Single Server to Flexible Server did not complete successfully.

If the migration has failed or was rolled back, you should receive a notification from Azure indicating the reason for the failure. If you did not receive any notification, it is possible that the migration is still in progress. In this case, you should wait for the migration to complete before taking any further action.

Sometimes, resources might not appear immediately due to caching or propagation delays. Ensure that you’ve waited a reasonable amount of time before concluding that the migration is complete or failed.

To check the status of your migration, you can use the Azure CLI.

command to get more detailed information about a specific migration.

az postgres flexible-server migration show --migration-name [--ids] [--name] [--resource-group] [--subscription]

This command will list all the migrations that have been initiated for your flexible server.

I was expecting that a automatic migration of a small PostgreSQL Database Single Server to Flexible Server does not take that much time? It started automatically.. It had the state 'in progress' for one week and is now gone. I need to access this resource because it is still in use. But it's not possible.

az postgres flexible-server migration list

also shows no information about it. Can't find anything with its name. Seems like i should have created a new Flexible Server by myself. I will wait some more 'reasonable amount of time'. Still no new migrated Flexible Server can be found.

Nothing has changed. The migrated server still can't be found. I will wait for the weekend and then take care of it myself. The automatic migration behavior is just not possible to comprehend.
