When I setup additional domain controller for an existing domain by command "dcpromo", the will return this message "The wizard cannot gain access to the list of domains in the forest. This condition may be caused by a DNS lookup problem. For information about troubleshooting common DNS lookup problems, please see the following Microsoft Web site: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=5171 The error is: The RPC server is unavailable". Existing domain already setup DNS server, reverse lookup zones and nslookup successful. Could you give me advise to fix it.

    Hello,

Thank you for posting in Q&A forum

RPC service using port 135, I think this error means that this machine can't find the DC in your domain. because can't find the DC, or can find the DC, but port 135 is black.

You can check if you set DNS server address in this machine

Also, you can go to disk: C:\windows\debug\promote.log to see if it has more detail about this error.

    Best regards

    Yanhong
