Hi,

I am IT administrator for my organization, and I have been experiencing issues with my monthly patch deployment for the past four months. Despite various attempts, I have not been able to resolve the errors.

List of actions taken;

  1. Manually download and install KB file - failed
  2. Repair the component store with DISM commands - failed Reference : https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/mem/configmgr/update-management/error-0x800f0831-installing-update

As a workaround, I have to reformat a bunch of devices every month and I am looking forward if there any solution to fix this issue.

    Hello.

    1. What server do you use for update deployment? WSUS or SCCM?
    • Make sure that there are no issues with your WSUS or SCCM server deployment.
    • Check the log files to determine if there are any error records related to the update.
    1. Network Issues:
    • Check if there are any network issues affecting the download or installation of updates.
    • Confirm that the firewall or proxy settings are configured correctly and are not blocking necessary communications.
    1. Update Order:
    • Check that the updates are installed in the correct order. Sometimes, updates need to be in a specific order to be installed successfully.
    1. Software Compatibility:
    • If there are other software running, confirm that they do not conflict with the update process.
    • Some security softwares may interfere with the update process, try temporarily disabling them to see if that resolves the issue.
    1. Hardware Compatibility:
    • Confirm the hardware compatibility of all devices and check if any hardware drivers are causing the issue.
    1. Update Policy:
    • Review your update policies to ensure they are appropriate and free of misconfigurations.

    Best Regards,

    Hania Lian
