How to extract data from particular Excel cells into one document

Hi all,

I was wondering how I might go about extracting data from specific cells in an excel sheet, and having them populate one singular word document?

Here is what I am trying to achieve:

I have a Word template where I prepare a schedule of appointments for my boss. I import data about the schedule from the scheduling app into an Excel sheet, and use formulas in Excel to prepare the data in certain columns and cells to reflect how I want it presented. I want to be able to take the data from certain cells in the Excel sheet and have it populate a single timetable template in Word. I would ideally like this to be updated when the Excel sheet is updated.

In my mind, Mail Merge doesn't make sense for this, because it's all the data in one doc, not lines of data in multiple docs.

I have no experience with VBA.

How would I go about doing this in the Word document?

Keep in mind that when Word brings in data from Excel, it ignores the Excel formatting, especially with numbers and dates.

Mail Merge is likely the best option.

You can import information from certain cells by pasting in the Word document as linked objects, retaining the nature as Excel cells. That will be picky.

I have, for more than thirty years, used Mail Merge with data sets to prepare multiple documents from the same data. Each case was a separate Excel row and I would be preparing documents for one case at a time as a trial lawyer.
