Creating an additional Purview account for our team's Resource Group

Question

If there isn't a primary Purview account set up for the Resource Group yet, is it possible to create a secondary Purview account directly without promoting it to primary? Our understanding is that, by default, the system does not promote a new account to primary. Could you confirm this behavior and any steps we need to take?

You can only create one Microsoft Purview account per tenant. If your organization already has a Microsoft Purview account, you will not be able to create a new Microsoft Purview account unless your organization already had multiple accounts and is still under the the pre-existing quota. In case, if you try to create a secondary Microsoft Purview account, you will see the below error message: You already have a tenant-level Microsoft Purview account chepra to achieve enterprise data governance. If you want to create an additional one, please reach out to Microsoft support. Learn more
