MS Authenticator asking for code from MS Authenticator in order to access MS Authenticator

I had to re-install MS Authenticator on my iPhone 15 and since installing I haven't been able to sign in or access anything associated with my work account. Every time I try to access my security settings to remove the device (as suggested elsewhere on the forum) I am instructed to approve the request in my Authenticator app - but no notification/request is sent there. When I try to re-add my account to the Authenticator app, it says that I need to approve a request in the Authenticator app (which I don't receive and couldn't do anyway - since I'm already in the Authenticator app). It's just an endless loop of needing the Authenticator app to get into the Authenticator app which I can't do without the Authenticator app. I've seen many many posts from people with the same issue. Is there any way to resolve this?I have tried uninstalling the app and re-installing. I've reset my Network settings on the phone. I have tried removing the account from authenticator and re-adding it.

    Hello MBL,

    Thanks for your question.

You need to backup your credentials in authenticator, if ths was not done unfortunately you can only resolve this by contacting support or asking your admins/support to reset your account https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/xandr/curate/troubleshooting-multi-factor-authentication-mfa?source=recommendations

You will need to contact the support teams of the applications on your MFA to assist you in resetting your credentials.

You can mark it 'Accept Answer' and 'Upvote' if this helped you

    Regards,

    Abiola

I have the same problem. I don’t have an IT department or support and am the only admin. I changed your phone recently and your authenticator app is no longer receiving notifications

    1. I do not have access to the old phone.
    2. When logging in to login.microsoftonline.com I am not able to login via verification code as no alternatives to the authenticator app are available
    3. I’ve tried to regain access to your account from the above link by resetting your password, but you are still presented with a request for 2FA after completing that process

I need to talk to an agent to

    (a) disable 2FA for my account or

    (b) enable alternative verification methods for this account.

i can’t get to talk to anyone in MS to help. Any suggestions? Thanks
