Does it possible to move a MySQL database between different Azure Accounts?

Hi all,

I have 2 different Azure Accounts. I want to move the mysql database in one of these Azure accounts to my other Azure account. Since the database is approximately 150 GB, I would like to do this with the Azure recommended or best practice method for such migrations instead of manual download / upload. Can anyone with knowledge or experience on the subject share it?

As I understand, you want to move Azure Database for MySQL to a different Azure Account.

Could you please try Azure Database Migration Service as illustrated here:

Perform test migrations before migrating for production:

Test migrations are important for ensuring that you cover all aspects of the database migration, including application testing. The best practice is to begin by running a migration entirely for testing purposes. After a newly started migration enters the Replicate Data Changes phase with minimal lag, only use your Flexible Server target for running test workloads. Use that target for testing the application to ensure expected performance and results. If you're migrating to a higher MySQL version, test for application compatibility.

After testing is completed, you can migrate the production databases. At this point, you need to finalize the day and time of production migration. Ideally, there's low application use at this time. All stakeholders who need to be involved should be available and ready. The production migration requires close monitoring. For an online migration, the replication must be completed before you perform the cutover, to prevent data loss.

Hi ShaktiSingh,

I am trying to follow the steps in the document you sent, but when I select the target in step 2 "Configure migration project" I can only view databases in my own account. What I need is to be able to select the database in my other Azure Account as the target.

Also, my source database for the migration is Azure Database for MySQL flexible server. When creating a New Migration Project I don't see it among the source server type options: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/dms/media/tutorial-azure-mysql-external-to-flex-online/create-project-external.png

What could be the reason for these?
