Copilot sidebar doesn't answer a follow up question accordingly

I'm a teacher, and I've been using Copilot to adapt YouTube videos and news articles as lesson materials by using the Copilot sidebar. However, I recently found that Copilot can no longer respond to a follow-up question when used in the sidebar. Has anyone else experienced the same issue and figured out a solution to fix this?

I have been using Copilot sidebar for code debugging and is now unable to answer follow up questions about the code snippets it provides, whereas I could have a full conversation with it previously about prior responses in the same conversation thread.
Very frustrating.
