Upgrade Public IP from Basic to Standard for VPN Gateways

Question

How can I upgrade the Public IP of my VPN gateways from Basic SKU to Standard SKU, and is it necessary at this time?

PS - Based on common issues that we have seen from customers and other sources, we are posting these questions to help the Azure community.

Recently, Microsoft sent out a notice recommending this upgrade. However, at this time, it's not necessary to upgrade. The Basic SKU currently supports only Basic SKU public IP addresses. We're working on adding support for Standard SKU public IP addresses for the Basic SKU.

For now, you can continue using your existing Basic SKU Public IPs without making any changes.
