Hello!

Where does the "Request Access" functionality lives within Data Products page? Does it have any link to the "Workflows" in Purview? We are just trying to see if our Data Catalog "Request Access" workflow can be used for Data Products too.

Any insight on this will be helpful as there is not much documentation around.

Regards,

Sorabh

@SM - Thanks for the question and using MS Q&A platform.

If you discover a data product in the catalog that you would like to access, you can request access directly through Microsoft Purview. The request triggers a workflow that requests that the owners of the data resource grant you access to the data product.

This article outlines how to make an access request.

    1. To find a data product, search or browse for it in the data catalog.
    2. Select the data product to open the data product details page.
    3. Select the Request access button.
    4. Fill in the form. The form is different depending on your organization and the data product, but provide all information.
    5. Select Send when you're finished.
    6. Approval requests are sent out to all involved parties.
    7. When your request has been approved or rejected, you'll get an email notification.

For more details, refer to How to request access to a data product and How to search and browse for data products.

Hope this helps. Do let us know if you have any further queries.
