What is an $OF file in my external hard drive and can I delete it to save space?

I have a Seagate external hard drive connected to my Windows 10 laptop with USB. In the path 'E:\FileHistory\myname\MY-PC\Data' there are three folders: C, D, and $OF. The C and D correrspond to my C and D drives. But the $OF file is full of files with names numbering from around 4500 to 11500. In each file there are dvcc files (apparently Davinci Resolve files which is a video editing software I use), dll files (I don't know what that is), and potentially others (too much to look through). Overall, the $OF file is taking up an entire 830 GB out of my 1.8TB hard drive!

My question is, can I delete this $OF safely without any repercussions in order to free up about half of my external HDD space? Thank you for your time. (The image is whats inside the $OF file)User's image

    Hello Ty Prince,

Thank you for posting in Q&A forum.

An $OF file on your external hard drive is typically a temporary file created by various applications or the operating system. These files are often used to store temporary data and can usually be deleted without causing any issues. However, it's always a good idea to ensure that the file is not in use by any application before deleting it.

I hope the information above is helpful.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to let us know.

    Best Regards,

    Daisy Zhou
