Teams won't open links in Desktop App

Our company was bought and we are now using teams with our current accounts and then switching to the other account to interact with the new company. On the new one, I cannot seem to be able to set Open Links in Desktop App as the default. Is this something I can change or does their admin need to do it? If so, what setting do they need to change?

    Hi @Dom

    The Link in the Links open preference refers to a website link, which can only be opened in a browser in Teams.

    If you want to open the file in the desktop app, select the File open preference:
