1. Enable multi-factor authentication (MFA): This can significantly improve account security as it is difficult for an attacker to bypass the second layer of authentication even if the password is compromised.
2. Periodically review and update permissions: Ensure that users have only the minimum permissions needed to accomplish their tasks, reducing potential points of risk.
3. Deploy conditional access policies: Controlling how and when users access Exchange Online through conditional access policies can effectively prevent unauthorized access.
4. Enable Mailbox Auditing: By enabling mailbox audit logs, you can track user actions in mailboxes to detect and respond to suspicious activities in a timely manner.
5. Configure Advanced Threat Protection (ATP): Protect mailboxes from malware and phishing attacks with Office 365 ATP, an important defense against increasingly sophisticated threats.
