If I enable auto start and shutdown in my VM, will this automation incur cost to me, if yes how much?

I have two Virtual Machines (VMs) that are used for approximately 7-8 hours each day. I am considering enabling the auto start and shutdown feature to automate their operation, with startup half an hour before work and shutdown half an hour afterward.

Could you kindly confirm if the automation service for auto start and shutdown will be billed by Azure? If yes, could you explain the cost implications and why it incurs a charge? Additionally, any relevant documentation or articles on this topic would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello Ibrahim Shaikh

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A Platform, thanks for posting your query here.

Enabling the auto start and shutdown feature in your VMs will not incur any additional cost. This feature is available free of charge and can help you save costs by proactively preventing additional costs when the virtual machines are not being actively used.

Below document provides a step-by-step guide on how to configure the auto start and shutdown feature for your VMs.
