How to Join a Teams Meeting Using Only the Meeting ID Without Password or Sign-In, and Bypass the Lobby from Client-Side

Dear all,
We are working on a project that involves integrating Microsoft Teams into a web application. I have two requirements, and we are seeking guidance on how to implement them:

Join a Teams meeting using only the meeting ID: Is it possible to allow users to join a Teams meeting by entering just the meeting ID, without requiring a password or sign-in? If so, what would be the best approach to achieve this?

Bypass the lobby from the client side: Is there a way to automatically bypass the Teams meeting lobby from the client side, allowing users to join the meeting directly without needing host approval?

Any help or direction on how to implement these features would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advance!

    Hi @James Ren

Regarding your first question, currently Microsoft Teams does not support joining a meeting by just entering the meeting ID without a password or login. Users need to log in with their Microsoft account to join a Teams meeting. This is to ensure the security and privacy of the meeting.

For your second question, here's how you can set up a meeting so that some users can bypass the lobby and join the meeting directly:

    From the Teams Admin Center:

    • Sign in to the Microsoft Teams Admin Center.
    • Go to Meetings > Meeting Policies.
    • Create or edit an existing meeting policy.
    • In the Participants and Guests section, find the Bypass Lobby option and set it to Everyone.

    From the Teams client:

    • When creating a meeting, tap Meeting Options.
    • In the Who can bypass the lobby? option, select Everyone or People in your organization.

After setting this up, eligible users will be able to join the meeting directly without the host's approval. For more information, please refer to this reference.
