Trying to connect from PowerBI desktop to an instance of Azure Postgresql.

I am able to connect from my laptop to the database using PGAdmin4.
A colleague also tried to connect.

I get an error that says: "Unable to create an encrypted connection"
If I try un encrypted connection it just fails to connect.

When my colleague trys to connect she gets: "An error happened while reading data from the provider: 'Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation."

I have tried installing npgsql from the msi but it does not make a difference.

I have verified that both our IPs are listed in the postgres instance's network table as allowed (and verified it is correct by connecting through pgadmin.
Also I have downloaded the pbids file for the DB from the Azure portal and it does not work either.

    Hi David Boyd •,

    Welcome to Micrsoft Q&A forum.

As I understand, you are unable to connect to Azure PostgresDB from PowerBI with error "Unable to create an encrypted connection"

    Please check below points:

Check your driver in PowerBI, SSL mode, Firewall and IP configuration in DB, check TLS.

If these look fine, then I would request you post your query in the Power BI forum

This will assist you with a faster reply to your query.

    Hope this will help.

    Thanks
