Our user computers are hardened, and they are restricted to access some external websites such as Gmail from their hardened computers. We have done the restrictions through Defender clous apps. When users are trying to access blocked websites through Browsers installed in their computer, those sites are blocked.

We allowed user to use WSL in their computers because they need it for their daily works. If someone installs a browser in WSL such as Firefox, Chrome, Lynx and access Gmail or any other websites that we blocked through Defender, there is no restrictions, they can access those sites freely.

Do we have a way to block certain websites when users access it thorough a browser installed in WSL?

    Hello

Thank you for posting in Q&A forum.

If the users are in the same network, you can try:

    1. If you have your own DNS server, you could try to redirect the Gmail or other website you want to block, to a specific IP address.
    2. You could block the website or IP address through your network device(router/switch).

I hope the information above is helpful.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to let us know.

    Best Regards,

    Daisy Zhou
