SQL Server Standalone Import Export Wizard

I need to import data from Excel 64-bit (2016/O365) into a table in SQL Server 2016, The built-in Import/Export wizard in SSMS has never worked for this purpose (it is a 32-bit app and always fails). To get around this, I had been using a standalone version of this Import/Export wizard that I launched directly from the start menu (not from within SSMS). That always worked fine.

However, I just got a new PC. I cannot seem to find how to obtain the standalone version of the wizard that will import from Excel 64-bit. Could you please direct me how to download and install this tool. Thank you.

    Hi @Dom

You can install the SQL Server Import and Export Wizard by installing SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT). For more info, see Download SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT).

I need to import data from Excel 64-bit

An Excel file has no 32/ 64-bitness, it's just a file and therefore it doesn't matter which of 32/ 64-bit version of the Import/Export wizard you use.

Do you get an error message and if, which one exactly?
