Being charged for update management even though I have disabled it

I like many others, seem to have been caught out by Azure Update Management becoming a paid feature after it came out of preview.

I got stung by an unexpected bill, and have since deleted update management in my resource group for my handful of Arc enabled servers.

However, checking subscription cost management, I am still being charged for this feature. I have tried to open a support ticket with Microsoft to query this, but they make it impossible to do so.

Can anyone offer me any guidance on either;

  1. How to open a support ticket to query this, given I do not have a support agreement?
  2. How I can stop and dispute the charges for a feature I have deleted and no longer use?

Many thanks

Eds

    Hi Eds89,

Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

You can reach out Azure billing and subscription management team by creating a billing support request. Billing support request via Azure portal is free for all Azure customers and doesn't require a paid support plan.

Please select 'Billing' under 'issue type' while creating the support request.

To dispute the charges, you can follow these steps:

Review Your Billing Details: Go to the Cost Management + Billing section in the Azure portal.

Analyze Unexpected Charges: Use the cost analysis tools to understand the charges and identify any discrepancies.

    1. Contact Billing Support: If you still see charges for a feature you've disabled, you can contact Azure billing support using the above link. Explain the situation and provide any relevant details, such as the date you disabled the feature and any confirmation of the deletion.

Please feel free to click the 'Upvote' (Thumbs-up) button and 'Accept as Answer'. This helps the community by allowing others with similar queries to easily find the solution.

After managing to open a support ticket, it appears that even though I have removed Azure Update Manager, the part that was causing charges, was the update extensions still installed on my Arc enabled servers.

I've been asked to manually uninstall the extensions from each server, but have also challenged the charges.

    Thanks

    Eds
