A table value of "1" always returning 0 confidence

Hey!

We're using Azure Computer Vision to OCR invoices in order to then process them automatically. Those invoices often have tables, that include a value of "1" in one of the cells, and Azure always returns a confidence of 0 for these cells, thus making our system unreliable and possibly throwing errors that stop automation of correctly read invoices.

I've attached an image with an example of a "1" that had 0 confidence

"1" example

Is there anything we can do to change this behaviour?

    Hi Adam Mucha,

Greetings & Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum! Thanks for posting your query!
I understand that you are facing an issue where cells containing the value "1" in tables always return a confidence of 0 when using Azure Computer Vision to OCR invoices.

To resolve this, you can try the following steps:

Ensure the images are of high resolution and good contrast. You can also preprocess the images (e.g., remove noise, sharpen the image) before sending them for OCR.
If the issue persists, consider using Azure Custom Vision or Form Recognizer with a custom model trained on invoices similar to yours. More information is available here.

Please refer to the following document for tips on improving confidence scores: Improve confidence scores.
If the issue still persists, you can submit examples of the original invoice images along with the extracted text to Microsoft Support via the Azure portal. This will help improve the OCR model's accuracy, especially for specific cases like recognizing the value "1" in tables.

Hope this helps. Do let us know if you have any further queries.
