Cant open word. "The application cannot be started because it is currently updating"

Hello, for the first time ever 25 years at least. I am receiving this message when I try to open a word or a word document. "The application cannot be started because it is currently updating" Its been about a half hour now and I have restarted the computer. It doesn't show the progress of the updated or anything. Windows says everything is currently up to date. frustrated and confused here.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I suggest you perform an Online Repair for your Office.

If Online Repair doesn't work, then you need to uninstall and reinstall Office again:
