Hi all, I migrated a hyper v VM to azure completely. The VM is accessible and everything but the azure guest agent is not running as it is a 32 bit VM. I can't even take backups. What do I do in order to fix this issue. I can't do an in place upgrade as I can't take backups. Also I don't want to migrate the application only as some of them are very old and would be difficult migrating them. Please let me know if there are any solutions to this issue . Thanks

You will need to modernise the system and applications. If this is a business-critical application updating should be prioritised from a security, availability and reliability perspective.

Support for 32-bit operating systems does not extend to the guest agent as per our documentation as these OS have reached their end-of-life support.

    • Linux and Windows VM Guest Agent doesn't support 32-bit operating systems. VM extensions such as Azure Backup and Azure Monitor Agent don't work on 32-bit operating systems because they require VM Guest Agent.
