We are going through and planning upgrading our Basic SKUs to standard SKUs. When reading trhough the documentation I see that it says the resource can not have resources assgined to it. It is in a resource group, do they need to be removed from the resource group? Would there be down time when we upgrade? If anyone else has done this can you let me know your expeirence and how it went?

Thank you

    In short, no - there is no need for resource group changes.

    @Elizabeth N. McClary ,

    Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A Platform. Thank you for reaching out & I hope you are doing well.

    I take it that you would like to upgrade a Basic SKU Public IP to a Standard One.

    As mentioned by Marcin Policht, no requirement to create a new Resource Group.

    • All you have to do is disassociate the Public IP from the resource (not resource group) to which it is associated
    • Then upgrade the IP to Standard
    • Then re-associate it back to the resource, assuming it supports Standard IP

    Based on the resource to which this is associated, there are mitigation plans available at Decision path
