Those are cloud-only addresses, there is no need to manage them via Entra Connect. They will not be stripped/overridden by Entra Connect, if that's what you are worried about.
SPO Addresses and Entra Connect Sync
I am struggling to find an answer in any documentation as to how the integration of the Entra Connect in our environment and the existing SPO addresses on most of the accounts should be managed. I see all of the SPO addresses attached to the user mailboxes but how does this work with Entra Connect syncing the local AD ProxyAddresses with Entra ID user account EmailAddresses? This is a non-Exchange environment locally and we will be syncing all users to Entra to simplify and streamline user management.
Referencing the below link from the Exchange Team Blog it is clear that removing these can break functionality (undefined in the post but I don't want it to break anything within the M365 suite of products like SharePoint and OneDrive) for the users.
Since these are all managed in an automated fashion within the M365 service stack, how will using the Entra Connect sync affect the use of the these addresses on existing users if the proxy address should be removed or changed and for future users that will need the address added? I would imagine this has been taken into consideration with the development and implementation of Entra Connect but I want to be sure I am not missing anything while implementing the sync.
The ultimate question for my implementation is how does the creation and linking of SPO addresses work with the Entra Connect sync from local AD enabled? Is there any documentation explaining how these work together and if there are certain mitigations or considerations necessary for the continued functioning of all the services that our users are currently taking advantage?
Any clarification on this would be greatly appreciated.
