Hello family,

I use task sequence to deploy Win 10 and Win 11 computers, and know where to check the smsts.log when the task sequence fails. But it's a little boring to have to manually copy the logs every time the task sequence fails.

How to automatically copy logs to my shared network folder when the task sequence fails?

Please share any of your thoughts, thank you very much.

    Hi,

    Hope all is well.

Yes, we can configure a capturing log task sequence group to copy the logs to a network share when a task sequence fails. Also note the use of the Task Sequence variable "_SMSTSLastActionSucceeded" to detect whether an error condition has been flagged when we reach this group.

Capturing logs during failed Task Sequence Execution

Capturing task sequence log files during OSD deployment.

Copy smsts.log automatically on a network share if error in OSD

If I can be of any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me.

    Best regards,

    Simon
