Hi all,

I’ve been receiving an unusual message when I try to send an email from my Outlook.com account. The error says:

"Remote server returned '550 5.7.520 Message blocked because it contains content identified as spam. AS(4810)'"

I’ve tried various solutions, such as:

  • Sending emails in plain text
  • Using my mobile device
  • Using Outlook Classic
  • Replying to emails without including previous messages

I even sent an email to myself and received the same error.

Could it be that I'm accidentally sending spam to myself?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi @Ida Cheung

    Welcome to our forum!

What is the version of your Outlook? It is recommended that you please check the Outlook client version (File>Office Account>Product Information) and try to upgrade to the latest version to see if the problem is resolved.

Does the issue occur recently on Outlook Desktop Client? To further confirm if the issue is more related to Outlook desktop client, if possible, please log in to your web mail and do the same test to check if the issue persists.

Do you have any specific operation before the issue occurred? Whether there was a problem sending a message with attachments or a regular text message?

    • If the issue occurred when you send an email with an attachment, it is suggested that please convert the attachment to a compressed package(.zip) and resend it to see if the problem persists.
    • If the issue occurred when you send a regular text message, as a workaround, you may edit the message on your computer, save it as a draft and then send it from your phone.

In addition, i find a similar thread that many people find it useful, please feel free to refer to.
