Trying to setup a new calendar on project on-line

I am trying to setup a new calendar for my project.
I have followed various help videos that i have to go into resources on 365 and add a generic resource. Then alter the calendar to add in working days / none working days.
Then this should appear on my project properties list (not just the standard one)
However when i put generic in the options do not change it wants a user .
I have spoken to a support person and when he clicks generic it gives him different options ?
We checked with other people some have my issue and some don't
I am guessing this is something to do with permissions ?
