Cannot Delete Web Links App Created with Intune installed on iOS Devices

We are moving from another well known MDM to Intune and are about to deploy to all staff phones but have run into a significant problem with Intune.

We need the ability to delete or revoke a deployed web link/app from devices when they were added to an enrollment profile. Currently, our IT team have determined that there is no way to delete it from Intune. I find this very inefficient, considering that I can delete/revoke a web app from the other MDM with no issues.

I see this has been a common problem since 2023 and has not yielded any fixes from Microsoft for this innate behavior. Is Microsoft have any problems to get this fixed anytime soon? I am troubled that I am moving forward on an MDM platform that I know has problems with it and cannot even revoke an app if a URL has changed or icon needs to be updated.

After reviewing Microsoft's official documentation, it appears that Intune does not provide a built-in method to remove or revoke deployed web apps (web links) from iOS devices once they have been installed. The "Remove apps and configurations from devices" feature allows administrators to uninstall applications or remove configuration profiles from devices; however, this functionality is not applicable to web apps deployed via Intune. Therefore, the most effective approach remains to instruct users to manually remove the web app from their devices. While this may not be the most efficient solution, it is currently the recommended method until Microsoft addresses this limitation in future updates.Reference

@Levesque, Sherri Thanks for posting in our Q&A.

Yes, there is no method to change web link URL in intune. For uninstalling web link, it is suggested to try to remove your groups in required assignment and add your groups in uninstall assignment. Please noted that if you remove the web link app deployment before changing the app assignment intent to Uninstall, the web link app will be permanently in place on the device until the device is un-enrolled from Intune.

Or someone provided a workaround to delete the stuck web link app in iOS. Creating a new Home Screen on the iPhone and added the Web Links you wanted to delete, then erased the home screen containing these apps and the system prompted me that it wouldn’t be able to add them to the App Library and hence would delete them.
