How to increase OpenAI quota? The OpenAI quota request form in Azure gives an error message 'this form is closed'.

I'm trying to increase OpenAI quota. There is a form in Azure Support + troubleshooting / Troubleshoot Azure Open AI quota issues / Request for quota increase. Clicking the link in Azure gives an error message 'this form is closed (in Finnish)'.

Please give instructions how to increase the quota, with cleary pointing out the places in Azure I need to go and all the necessary steps to be taken.

I understand that you are encountering an issue, The OpenAI quota request form in Azure gives an error message 'this form is closed'.

The Correct process is to request quota from Quota tab of Azure foundry portal, you can click on request quota for respective model/deployment tab as shown in below screenshot. Reference -

Hi,

The background of my request is that I want to deploy this particular Microsoft Learn example: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/samples/azure-samples/azure-search-openai-demo/azure-search-openai-demo/

It has been unclear to me whether I for instance need to deploy the AI Foundry first before I can deploy the azure-search-openai-demo.

Compared with the screenshot you provided the AI foundry does not look the same to me when I open it. The quota request I found in a very different place in AI foundry.

It is still very unclear to me how this quota management works. I think you should provide guidance starting from setting up the required preconditions and deployments, including the possible creation/configuration of the AI foundry or what ever is needed.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. Those are only different base models from OpenAI, for e.g. GPT3.5, 4 or 4o, you can increase quota against different deployment types. For e.g. Global, Provisioned, Standard etc. as shows in screenshot. The screenshot is taken from Studio Opened from Azure OpenAI. You can click on "Go to Azure AI Foundry portal" from OpenAI resource home page to go to Azure foundry portal to required modification of quota against desired model and deployment type (global/provisioned/Standard etc.). I would really love to have a step-by-step guide for setting up the required OpenAI resources and quotas in Azure for the Microsoft Learn OpenAI examples, e.g. for the one I have experimented with: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/samples/azure-samples/azure-search-openai-demo/azure-search-openai-demo/

Additional questions:

Do the allocated and active Azure OpenAI model quotas incur costs for me if I do not use the models?

What kind of Azure resources do I need to have active in order to keep my OpenAI model quota resource allocated? I do not want to keep any resources allocated that produce unnecessary costs for me when I do not use Azure.

Allocated Quotas don't cost. Cost is incurred but when token is sent or processed. 2. By default, a fixed size (200 units, 8 units) is allocated for some of base models and can be increased pricing .
