Hi @CL
Thank you for posting this on Microsoft Q&A.
I understand, you are unable to access the Azure portal because it keeps prompting you to enter an authenticator code, which you haven't set up before.
This issue may be caused by one of the following:
- You might be getting redirected to a different directory when trying to access Azure.
- Someone within your tenant may have enforced MFA using the authenticator app for all users.
To resolve the issue, you can try logging in via the following URL by appending your tenant's name:
https://portal.azure.com/<tenant_name>
For example: https://portal.azure.com/contoso.onmicrosoft.com
This should redirect you directly to your specific tenant.
If the above solution doesn't resolve the issue, you may need to contact your account administrator to verify if MFA has been enabled for your account. They can revoke the current MFA registration and initiate a re-registration process through Microsoft Entra ID. During this process, you will be prompted for additional information, and you will be asked to register your account with an authenticator app.
Here are some potential reasons why you might be prompted for MFA:
- Users may be required to use the Microsoft Authenticator app due to a Registration Campaign. You can check whether the Authenticator app is enforced for all users by going to Microsoft Entra > Protection > Authentication methods > Registration campaign.
- Enabling Security Defaults in your tenant can also trigger MFA prompts. For more details, please refer to the Security Defaults documentation.
