Can't eject external storage device with a program still running 'Generic volume shadow copy'

Error after trying to eject external mass storage, "Windows can't stop your 'Generic volume shadow copy' device because a program is still using it. Close any programs that might be using the device, and then try again later."

How do I resolve this?

    I'm not a programmer, the Windows version is Win11 Home on a Acer5 laptop. I followed a suggestion from CoPilot by going to Computer Management and clicked on each storage area, this fixed the issue by giving a nudge to the system.
