Hello everyone. I seem to have an issue with the latest Windows update and my laptop's battery. When i tried to update my laptop, the battery drained midway, and i had to undo the update to access my laptop again. My laptop had 40% of charge left but drained way sooner than it should have. I thought this was caused by corruption with the Windows update. I had to recharge my laptop, but it was charging way too slowly even though the battery was fine and not damaged one bit. I was able to charge my laptop to 41% for more than 2 hours. The next day, i turned on the laptop to find out the percentage number increasing all the way to 59. I tried recharging my laptop, and it was charging way faster than before. I am curious to see why this problem occurred, and should i retry the update once more?

    Hello

Thank you for posting in Q&A forum.

Here are a few steps you can take to address the problem:

    1. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the battery drivers:

    • Press Windows key + X and select Device Manager.

    • Expand the Batteries section.

    • Right-click on each driver and select Uninstall device.

    • Restart your laptop, and Windows will automatically reinstall the drivers.

    1. Windows has a built-in troubleshooter that can help identify and fix power-related issues:

    • Press Windows key + R, type msdt.exe /id PowerDiagnostic, and press Enter.

    • Follow the prompts to complete the troubleshooting process.

    1. Ensure that your laptop's BIOS and drivers are up to date. Visit your laptop manufacturer's website to download the latest versions.
    2. Fully charge your battery to 100%, then use your laptop until the battery drains completely. Repeat this process a couple of times to recalibrate the battery.
    3. Optimize your power settings to improve battery performance:

    • Go to Settings > System > Power & sleep.

    • Adjust the settings to reduce power consumption, such as lowering screen brightness and setting shorter sleep times.

I hope the information above is helpful.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to let us know.

    Best Regards,

    Daisy Zhou
