Hi All,

I am looking for some help. After upgrading a sharepoint farm to the latest CU Dec 2020, I have been unable to open the Central Administration Page.

The following error occurs:

Sorry, something went wrong
The base type 'Microsoft.SharePoint.ApplicationPages.CentralAdminMenuPage' is not allowed for this page. The type Microsoft.SharePoint.ApplicationPages.CentralAdminMenuPage, Microsoft.SharePoint.ApplicationPages.Administration, Version=16.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c could not be found or it is not registered as safe.
Technical Details

Troubleshoot issues with Microsoft SharePoint Foundation.

I have attempted to add the following lines to the safe control assembly in the web config of the sharepoint administration site with no success.

<SafeControl Assembly="Microsoft.SharePoint, Version=16.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c" Namespace="Microsoft.SharePoint.ApplicationPages" TypeName="*" Safe="True" AllowRemoteDesigner="True" SafeAgainstScript="False" />

<SafeControl Assembly="Microsoft.SharePoint, Version=16.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c" Namespace="Microsoft.SharePoint.ApplicationPages.Administration" TypeName="*" Safe="True" AllowRemoteDesigner="True" SafeAgainstScript="False" />

I have also re run the Sharepoint 2016 products configuration wizard with no success.

Any assistance would be greatly appriciated.

Cheers,
Chris.

    Hi Julie,

    I added this syntax to the web config file this morning and the original error disappeared regarding base types.

    <SafeControl Assembly="Microsoft.SharePoint, Version=16.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c" Namespace="Microsoft.Sharepoint.ApplicationPages.CentralAdminMenuPage" TypeName="*" />

    Now I get the following error that does not help me much:

    Sorry, something went wrong
    An unexpected error has occurred.
    TECHNICAL DETAILS

    Troubleshoot issues with Microsoft SharePoint Foundation.
    Correlation ID: db279e9f-aa57-70ba-5214-29a977e96fdc

    Any idea how to fix this issue?

    The ULS logs show the following error on this correlation ID

    User Key aysu8 Unexpected The value is neither a claim user name nor a claim user name suffix. Value: 'xxxx\xxxxx'. 1b1e9e9f-8afa-70ba-5214-23fba131c9f8

    Hi @DinoRod ,

    After installing the latest CU in SharePoint Server 2016, the server is running well and I can successfully open the CA site.

    For your issue, I want to confirm more information with you:

    1. Do other users are all unable to access the CA site?
    2. Could you open other sites other than CA site?

    Please also check the authentication type for the CA site in IIS:
