SharePoint Online permissions for designing a site without access to data

Hi Everyone,

A company has a SharePoint Online site where all company documents are stored. 

They want to use that site as a company information portal and delegate a user site designer role.

However that site designer should NOT have access to a couple of folders in that site.

Is it possible to grant permissions so that the folder access criteria is met?

you can use unique permission for the document library first.

then grant designer permission for the user.

so that the user just can design the site without library permission.

Step as below:

1. create a SharePoint group for manage library
2. Set library permission: Stop Inheriting Permission -> Check all permissions and remove User Permission
3. Grant permission for the group
4. Grant design permission for the designer developer

Hi @X-Box-11-2021 ,

you can just click on the folder>Share>Manage access>Advanced>Stop Inheriting Permissions>clear all permissions on the page you don't want

After you granting unique permission to the folder, you will be able to delete the permission of user or group
