Passkey QR Codes not displaying in Edge on Windows 11

Hello, We have recently run into an issue where passkey QR Codes are not showing up in Edge on Windows 11 as opposed to Windows 10. Windows 11 Seems to be pushing this process off to windows security somehow and after selecting the option "iPhone, iPad, or Android Device", the QR Code does not show up. I've included some screenshots below.

No QR Code Image on one Windows 11 Machine with the windows security prompt

This is an image of what it supposed to look like in the windows security prompt, similar to the above screenshot but with a QR Code.

I tried on another Windows 11 Machine and it the QR Code shows up but doesn't use the windows security prompt to bring up the QR code, it seems to be directly within the edge browser.

My question is why does one instance bring up a windows security prompt on one system but the QR doesn't show up then in shows up directly in the browser on another system? Both systems have the exact same settings and same OS version & build. Can it be set to function directly in the browser on both systems? I've also looked at relevant WebAuthN logs that I thought might be relevant but haven't been able to determine anything from those logs. Any thoughts or ideas would certainly help, I have been doing some research on my own but have not found anything that seems to fix this.

Kind Regards,

Abdullah

    Hello,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A.

Based on the description, I understand your question is related to passkey.

Open Edge and go to Settings. Compare settings under Profiles, Privacy, search, and services, and Site permissions.

Go to Settings > About Microsoft Edge to check for updates.

Open Windows Security. Go to App & browser control and ensure settings are consistent between both machines.

Check if there are any Group Policy settings that might be affecting the behavior:

    Open Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc).

Navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Microsoft Edge.

Ensure settings are consistent between both machines.

If the issue persists, consider reinstalling Edge on the problematic machine:

Uninstall Edge from Settings > Apps.

Download and reinstall Edge from the official website.

You can also try reset Edge settings to default:

Go to Settings > Reset settings > Restore settings to their default values.

    Have a nice day.

    Best Regards,

    Molly
