Hello,

I am using a free Azure account with an onmicrosoft.com domain and I would like to integrate it with Atlassian Cloud. Could you provide information on how to verify the domain during the SSO configuration? Specifically, during the implementation of SAML SSO on Atlassian, I am unsure how to proceed with domain verification.

Thank you in advance for the reply.

    Hello Chiara,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Q&A.

Based on your query, I understand you have the onmicrosoft.com domain which you want cannot verify and would like to know how to proceed on domain verification with Atlassian cloud.

onmicrosoft.com domains belongs to Azure itself which cannot be modified nor verified. These domains are specifically works with Azure domain creation. If you would like to verify a domain atlassian cloud, you need to add a custom domain in your tenant and make it as a primary domain. Once you make it as a primary domain, you need to change the users suffix from Entra ID --> Users then you will be able to change the UPNs to desired domain and you can configure atlassian cloud with your Entra.

Here is the document to configure and verify the custom domain: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/entra/fundamentals/add-custom-domain

    Steps to change the UPN:

    • Login into your azure portal with your credentials.
    • Go to your Entra Id tenant.
    • Go to Overview>Properties.
    • Click on the name and change this from whatever your tenant is currently called to your company name.
    • Select save at the bottom of your screen.

I hope this information is helpful. Please feel free to reach out if you have any further questions.
