RDS - RDVH can't find VM templates.

Hello,

I'm experiencing an issue with my RDS environment where the VM templates are not being detected for deployment. This problem seems to occur after rebooting the RDS servers, and the only workaround I've found is to uninstall and reinstall the RDVH each time it happens.

The RDVH is installed on a Windows 2022 Datacenter Cluster Node not on a domain controller. This server has two 1 Gb NICs for management and VM traffic, and two 25 Gb NICs for cluster traffic. The RDS Broker and Gateway are hosted on a separate Hyper-V server outside the cluster but within the same VLANs. Specifically, the RDVH is on VLANs 1 and 110, while the RDS Broker is on VLAN 1 and 110, and the Gateway is on VLANs 110 and 111 for web traffic.

No matter what I try with the networks, seems to make no difference. If I want the VM templates to show up I have to uninstall the RDVH and reinstall it on the node.

Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello,

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft community forum.

You can try the following steps to troubleshoot the problem:

    1. Check that the VM template is in the "off" state in the Hyper-V manager. If the template does not close correctly, try restarting the template and closing it again.
    2. Ensure that the cluster is correctly configured and no cluster communication problems occur. Check the cluster log for errors or warnings. At the same time, check the communication status between RDVH and RD Connection Broker and Hyper-V server.
    3. Make sure all network drivers and firmware are up to date.

    I hope this helps.

    Best regards

    Jacen

To me, the cluster appears to be configured correctly. It passes the validation test, and there is nothing unusual in the cluster's logs. The templates are powered off, and the broker can ping and communicate with the RDVH server without any issues. I recently deployed this setup, and all drivers and firmware have been updated.

Yesterday, after uninstalling and reinstalling the RDVH, the templates appeared. However, today, after rebooting the Hyper-V service on the node where the RDVH service is installed, the templates disappeared again. I will reinstall the RDVH to make them appear once more. It’s very frustrating. Is there anything more specific I can look for in the logs or test the network.
