Hi, I have a pc with windows 11 pro and TPM 2.0, I need a shared external drive, connected via usb and encrypted with bitlocker, to be accessible to other computers when the computer it is connected to starts up, without the need to log in. Is this possible? I could enable automatic user login but I would prefer to avoid that for security reasons

    Hello,

To allow access to an external disk that is encrypted with BitLocker and shared on the network without logging into the connected PC, you can try following these steps:

    1. Connect the external drive to the PC and encrypt it with BitLocker.
    2. Once the drive is encrypted, copy the recovery key file (*.BEK) to a network location accessible by other computers.
    3. On the PC, open the Local Group Policy editor app.
    4. Navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > Removable Storage Access.
    5. On the right, find the policy setting "All Removable Storage: Allow direct access in remote sessions".
    6. Double-click on it and set the policy to Enabled.
    7. Restart the PC.

    Best regards

    Zunhui
