I am attempting to remote into a desktop machine from a laptop.

Both are running Windows 11 Pro

Both use the same Microsoft account

Both are on the same home network

Windows Firewall is set to allow Remote Desktop connections

I have tried using the computer name as the connection address.

I have tried using the local LAN IP as the connection address.

Every time I attempt to remote in I get the following error:

I can ping the address of the remote computer.

Remote desktop is turned on.

The computer is turned on.

The computer is connected to the network.

    Hello,

There are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

    1. Ensure that Remote Desktop is enabled on the remote machine.
    2. Check if the Remote Desktop service is running on the remote machine. Run "services.msc" and look for the "Remote Desktop Services" and "Remote Desktop Configuration" services and make sure they are running.
    3. Make sure that the user account you are using to connect has Remote Desktop access permissions on the remote machine.
    4. Check the Computer IP address. If the remote computer is using a dynamic IP, make sure that the current IP is the one you're using to connect.

I hope the above information is helpful. If you have any questions, please feel free to let us know.

    Regards,

    Jacen Wang

Remote Desktop can't find the computer "DESKTOP-O36MSVC". This might mean that "DESKTOP-O36MSVC" does not belong to the specified network. Verify the computer name and domain that you are trying to connect to.
