Hello
- Yes, it is possible to use Windows Server 2022 Azure Edition as a guest OS in a VMware vSphere on-premises environment. However, please note that Azure Edition is optimized for use in Azure cloud environments, so you may not be able to take full advantage of all its features in an on-premises environment.
- Unfortunately, there is no direct upgrade path from Windows Server 2012 R2 to Windows Server 2022 Azure Edition. You will need to first upgrade to a supported version of Windows Server (such as 2016 or 2019) before upgrading to 2022 Azure Edition.
- When upgrading from any version of Windows Server, it is always important to ensure that your hardware and software are compatible with the new version. You should also make sure to back up your data before performing any upgrades.
Best Regards,
Hania Lian
