Domain Controller. Do we need one

HI

Sorry to possibly asking a dumb question but my IT knowledge is enough to know I don't know anywhere near enough. but we have a physical server at work which is about 5 years old which we have been advised by our MSP that we should replace . Ive queried why we need one as the office isn't manned very often. There are no business related apps that we use that are physically on the server everything we use is web based including Microsoft 365. Ive been advised that its purely used as domain controller. Ive asked about moving everything to the cloud but have been advised that would cost a fortune monthly with the 11 users that we have.

Is it really that expensive to move the domain controller to the cloud? Ive been told about £400 per month.
