Hello
Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community forum.
It sounds like you're encountering a specific issue with Windows 11 that wasn't present in Windows 10. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the sound issue before user login:
Check Audio Services: Ensure that all necessary audio services are set to start automatically. You can do this by:
- Pressing Win + R, typing services.msc, and pressing Enter.
- Finding the services related to audio (e.g., Windows Audio, Windows Audio Endpoint Builder) and ensuring they are set to "Automatic".
Update Audio Drivers: Make sure your audio drivers are up to date. You can do this by:
- Going to Device Manager (Win + X > Device Manager).
- Expanding the "Sound, video and game controllers" section.
- Right-clicking your audio device and selecting "Update driver".
Disable Fast Startup: Since you mentioned that enabling fast startup helped, but it might not be ideal, you can try disabling it to see if it makes a difference:
- Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do.
- Click on "Change settings that are currently unavailable".
- Uncheck "Turn on fast startup" and save changes.
Registry Edit: There might be a registry setting that needs adjustment. Be cautious with this step:
- Press Win + R, type regedit, and press Enter.
- Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Audiosrv.
- Ensure that the "Start" value is set to 2 (Automatic).
Check for Known Issues: There have been reports of audio issues with certain updates. Make sure your system is not affected by any known bugs.
Windows 11 24H2 strikes a sour note as audio bug hits the update, leaving some PCs silent
