2019 WSUS Server not downloading updates

I am facing an issue with my 2019 WSUS server which is unable to download updates if the Windows Defender firewall is turned off. Is it a requirement to have the Windows Defender firewall even if I have a corporate firewall that allows the traffic for ports 80 and 443?

The documentation doesn't point this out: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/administration/windows-server-update-services/deploy/2-configure-wsus

One thing that I noticed is that the Windows Defender firewall had a change on the 2016 and subsequent versions.

Thanks!
