Bitlocker Issue

Like a lot of my fellow users here, I have been caught up in the Bit Locker ID fiasco regarding the most recent security update. I have never set up a bit locker ID and when I go to search for it on the Microsoft log in site where you have directed me, there is nothing there. I have spent hours trying to resolve this through forums, videos, the command prompt screen all no success. What is the status of the resolution to be rolled out and are there any current alternatives for those of us who do NOT have a bit locker ID but it still requests one and the system will not allow us to reset the system stating “there is something wrong and this cannot be completed”.

    Hello RYKERR BOWERS,

I'm sorry to hear you're dealing with such a frustrating issue.

To recover your BitLocker recovery key, please follow the steps in Finding your BitLocker recovery key in Windows - Microsoft Support.

    Important:

    • If you are unable to locate the BitLocker recovery key and can't revert any configuration change that might have caused it to be required, you’ll need to reset your device using one of the Windows recovery options. Resetting your device will remove all of your files.
    • Microsoft support is unable to provide, or recreate, a lost BitLocker recovery key.

    Kind regards,

    Lei

    Hi,

I have a one-year old computer which locked due to faulty electrics. The repairer is asking for the bitlocker 48 digit code which has never been provided, although I assume will be in the operational memory. Despite numerous attempts I am unable to work-around the security of Bitlocker, surely it is in the interests of Microsoft to assist personal users if this is a universal fault cause by encryption issues?
