Hu Community,

I've created a vhdx image of my win server 2003 r2 enterprise, i've created a new vm with hyper v, but when i start it, no way to start.

The only way is start in a sfae mode, and i saw that some , PCI and ACPI

im not able to find them, someone knows how to fix it?

Is this the problem why i can't run the vm in a proper way?

Thanks.

Alfredo.

    Hi Admin,

    Hope you're doing well.

It seems like you are encountering compatibility issues with the virtual hardware configuration of your Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise VM on Hyper-V. Windows Server 2003 is an older operating system, and sometimes its drivers may not be fully compatible with modern virtualization platforms.

Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue:

    1. Ensure that Integration Services or Integration Components are installed on your Windows Server 2003 VM. These are a set of drivers and services that improve communication between the host system and the virtual machine. You can typically find them in the Hyper-V console or by mounting the integration services ISO to the VM.
    2. In Hyper-V Manager, go to the settings of your VM. Under the "Add Hardware" section, you might find an option for "Legacy Network Adapter" or similar. Add legacy hardware to see if it helps with driver compatibility.
    3. Ensure that your Hyper-V host is running the latest version of Hyper-V Integration Services. If not, update Hyper-V on the host system and then update the Integration Services on the VM.
    4. Boot the VM in Safe Mode and check the Device Manager for any missing or problematic devices. Try to update the drivers or reinstall them if necessary.

Remember that Windows Server 2003 is an end-of-life operating system and running it in a virtualized environment may have limitations. If the issue persists, consider upgrading to a more recent and supported version of Windows Server for better compatibility with Hyper-V and other modern technologies.

    Best Regards

    Hi,

    Xu Gu,

So, most of your suggest i already did, without success, iìll try to explane why.

    1. Services or Integration Components installation fails.
    2. On Hiper-v legacy network is not available.
    3. Hiper-v is up to date.
    4. i have to missing drivers, but i didn't found any compatible driver

i really don't know if will be possible virtualize this machine.

    Thanks.

    Alfredo.
