Focus issue with Remote Desktop Services on Windows Server 2022

I have a windows form application with 2 forms, Form1 and Form2. There is a button on Form1, which when clicked calls Form2.

The issue here is when I call Form2 on button click and close Form2, focus is not shifted back to Form1(parent form), when the application is published through Remote Desktop Services on windows server 2022.

It works fine if the executable is executed directly or if published through Remote Desktop Services on Windows Server 2019. Can anyone please let me know if Microsoft has provided any workaround for the same?

    Hello,

I would like to inform you that Microsoft has not provided a specific workaround for this issue. However, you can try the following steps to see if they resolve the problem:

    1. Update Your Remote Desktop Client and Operating System:
      • Ensure that both your remote desktop client and the operating system are up-to-date.
    2. Settings in Windows Form Applications:
      • While I'm focusing more on remote desktop services and don't possess specific knowledge about Windows form applications, you might want to explore whether there are settings within the application that could address this issue. You may want to post this specific concern in a forum dedicated to Windows form applications to see if others have encountered and resolved a similar issue.
    3. Feedback Hub:
      • You can also check the Feedback Hub for similar reports. If you find that others are experiencing the same issue, this might indicate that it's a systemic problem. You can provide feedback directly to Microsoft engineers through the Feedback Hub.
    4. Investigate Further:
      • Unfortunately, there isn't a direct method to resolve the issue. We can only speculate on potential causes, such as issues related to user profiles or network connectivity when using remote desktop. To further investigate, you might need to use tools like Process Monitor or more advanced diagnostic tools to track mouse-related actions and pinpoint the underlying root cause.

I hope the information above could be of assistance.

    Best regards,

    Karlie

I am also affected by windows losing focus when accessed using a published app for Sage 100. We can run the Sage 100 app installed directly on the Server 2022 RDS server and the windows do not lose focus but when accessed using the published app the windows lose focus and the user must click the window before typing.

When will the issue be resolved?
