When copying a file I'm getting 0x800705AA Insufficient system resources exist to complete the request service

Hello,

I am trying to copy the file using Windows Explorer copy from folder to folder with all sub-folders:

07/06/2020 07:35 4,759,888 netsight_setup_9.2.0.3022_MP_Production_mid60387287705_di2382280_tpLHoJSBuXmXYJC9Yh.exe

from one network share (Seagate NAS) to another network share (Western Digitial PR4100).

The system has 128 GB of RAM (so memory is not a problem. I thought the problem might be the length of the file name and extensions (well under the 255 characters limit).

As for diagnostic efforts:

  1. Reboot Windows 10 Pro x64 system: No change
  2. Reboot Windows 10 Pro x64 using a clean boot: No change

WHEN I TRY to do the copy at the command (line) prompt, I get:

05/26/2024 18:51:23.65 Z:>xcopy "z:netsight_setup_9.2.0.3022_MP_Production_mid60387287705_di2382280_tpLHoJSBuXmXYJC9Yh.exe" y: /B

Z:netsight_setup_9.2.0.3022_MP_Production_mid60387287705_di2382280_tpLHoJSBuXmXYJC9Yh.exe

File creation error - Insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service.

What is going on? How is a dual processor (E5-2667 v3) with 128GB of RAM not able to copy a 4M file?

Thank you.

    Hello Bertram Moshier,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

It looks like you are experiencing interruptions and error warnings when transferring files between two NAS. This is annoying. I'll do my best to help you. Here are some of my suggestions.

Follow the below mentioned steps and check if it helps.

    1. Open the properties of the****folder where the desired files or folders are located (such as Documents, Pictures, or Installation folder etc. ). You can open the properties of a particular folder by Right-clickingon it and select Propertiesfrom context menu.
    2. Go to the Security tab and click Advanced.
    3. Check the box at the bottom of this window. It is labeled "Replace all child object permissions with inheritable permissions from this object" and then click Ok. Reboot the PC and check if problems till occurs.

Hope this can solve your problem. If not, please feel free to provide me with more details, such as screenshots and error messages. I will do my best to help you.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation! I look forward to hearing from you.

    Best Regards,

    Liam - MSFT

    Hello,

When I try to access the drive using File Explorer, I'm told it doesn't exist. Yet, when I use the command prompt and the IP address (e.g., net use z: \192.168.0.51\Public), Windows sees the NAS drive.

How do I accomplish your suggestion using the command line?

    Thank you

I'm unsure how I got File Explorer working, but I did. I got the following Windows Security message right off the bat:

When I press Reorder, nothing seems to happen other than the Advance Setting dialog appearing. I thought a reorder would take a while.

I also got the same error message when trying to edit a user's permissions. This error message appears for all folders and never goes away, no matter how many times I press the Reorder button.

It looks like REORDER DOES NOT DO ANYTHING!

I followed your instructions and got the following error:

This seems (at least to a layperson) to be similar to the original error message. The system didn't ask me to give File Explorer a higher privilege level. I am, though, logged into my account (member of the Administration group).

    Thank you.

    Hello Bertram Moshier,

Seems that many warnings pop up. I don't know what you're stuck on. Please try migrating your file again if you have access to both network share.

I don't know the Operation System on your Seagate NAS. We are not responsible for the configuration of non-Microsoft related products.

However, I can give some directions for you to try. If the issue persists, try editing the permissions and user group of the sharing folder in your NAS OS settings.

you can visit this site for reference:

Seagate NAS OS 4 User Manual - Shares: Access and Transfer Files | Seagate US

    Hello Bertram Moshier,

Since your question relates to Windows Network Sharing and NAS, I would move your question to the IT Pro board, where more specialized engineers can solve your problem.

    Best Regards,
