Hi Guys, I need urgent support because currently I have a server and one vm hosted inside but however I need to backup to my RDX due to limitations of hyper v. I am unable to backup directly from my vm so I shared out the RDX drive from my physical server and on my backup software I mapped it there.

Issue: Whenever I take out the tape and replace either new one or current one I would immediately lost access to the shared drive.

OS running both Windows Server 2022

Permission: Was done correctly as I am able to access the first time but once take out and put back in I lost access.

Error Message: Network error. Windows cannot access \IP. You do not have permission.

    Hello,

Based on the information you provided, here are some possible solutions:

    1. Make sure you have set sharing permissions correctly. You can check the sharing permissions and security permissions of the shared drive to make sure you have the appropriate access rights.
    2. Make sure your network connection is normal. You can try pinging the IP address of the RDX shared drive to make sure your network connection is working.
    3. Try logging in using different user credentials. You can try logging in with different user credentials with appropriate access to see if that resolves the issue.

Also, you mentioned that whenever you remove a tape and replace it with a new tape or the current tape you immediately lose access to the shared drive.

It may be caused by a conflict between the tape drive and the shared drive. You can try the following steps to resolve this issue:

    1. Make sure that both the tape drive and the shared drive are installed and configured correctly.
    2. Try changing the drive letter of the tape drive so that it does not conflict with the drive letter of the shared drive

If you still cannot access the shared drive, you can try restarting the computer or restarting the network sharing service or trying a different tape drive or shared drive to see if there is a hardware failure.

    Hope this can help you.

    Thanks,

    Shujun

    Hi,

My Shared permission are correct. I can access but once I change tape or eject and reinsert that shared drive become unaccessible saying I have no permission.

I have verified that there's no conflict.

    Hello,

    Thanks for your reply,

It is recommended that you try pinging the IP address of the RDX shared drive to ensure that your network connection is working properly.

In addition to this, you can also try logging in with different user credentials. You can try logging in using another user's credentials with appropriate access to see if that resolves the issue.

If you are using Windows operating system, try opening File Explorer with administrator rights and access the shared drive. If you still cannot access the shared drive, you can also try restarting the computer or restarting the network sharing service, or try using a different tape drive or shared drive to see if there is a hardware failure.

If you still can't access the shared drive, you can try contacting your network administrator for further assistance.

    Thanks,

    Shujun

    Hi Shujun,

Already did all this. Any other solution? Or any customer faced this issue before?

    Scenario:

    RDX Quickstor

    Host Server

1 VM hosted inside the host

RDX Quickstor drive shared from Host and VM access the shared drive.

Issue faced: Once reinsert the tape, unable to access the drive anymore until have to unshare and share back.

Before reinsert the tape, the shared drive was able to access.

    Hello,

Apart from these, try restarting the host server and virtual machines to see if that resolves the issue. Additionally, you may also want to check to see if any firmware or driver updates for the RDX Quickstor drive may resolve the issue. Or you can check your firewall and security software settings to make sure they are not blocking access to the RDX shared drive.

    Thanks,

    Shujun
